Zinc stearate
CAS 557-05-1
Alais:Afco-chem ZNS
Molecular formula:C36H70O4Zn
Molecular weight:632.33
Structural formula:
1. Performance and use
Zinc stearate is a white lightweight fine powder. Molecular formula ZN (C17H35COO) 2, molecular structure RCOOZnOCR (R is a mixed alkyl group in industrial stearic acid), flammable, specific gravity 1.095, self ignition point 900 ℃, density 1.095, melting point 130 ℃, with a smooth texture. Insoluble in water, ethanol, ether, soluble in organic solvents and acids such as hot ethanol, turpentine, benzene, etc. Zinc stearate dissolves in organic solvents and forms a gel when cooled. It decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding zinc salts when exposed to strong acids. Has lubricity, hygroscopicity, non toxicity, slight irritation, no pollution, and no hazardous characteristics. By utilizing the property that zinc stearate is soluble in benzene while calcium stearate is insoluble in benzene, zinc stearate and calcium stearate can be separated.
Used as a softening lubricant for rubber products, a polishing agent for textiles, and a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride plastics
Used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride plastic products and a softener for rubber productS
Used in the pharmaceutical industry, formulation of curing oils and lubricants, and also as a paint desiccant
