N. N-Dimethylacetamide, also known as Acetyldimethylamine or simply DMAC, is a non proton highly polar solvent with a slight ammonia odor and strong solubility. It can dissolve a wide range of substances, including water, aromatic compounds, esters, ketones, alcohols, ethers, benzene, and trichloromethane, and can activate compound molecules. Therefore, it is widely used as a solvent and catalyst. As a solvent with high boiling point, high flash point, high thermal stability, and chemical stability, it can be used as a solvent for drawing polyacrylonitrile fibers, synthetic and natural resins, copolymers of vinyl formate, vinyl pyridine, and aromatic carboxylic acids; In terms of catalysts, they can be used for processes such as heating urea to produce cyanuric acid, reacting halogenated alkanes with metal cyanides to produce nitriles, reacting sodium acetylene with halogenated alkanes to produce alkyl alkynes, and reacting organic halides with cyanates to produce isocyanates. N. N-Dimethylacetamide can also be used as a solvent for electrolysis and as a coloring agent for photography, a paint remover, an organic synthetic raw material, a pesticide, and a pharmaceutical raw material. Extraction and distillation solvents for separating styrene from C8 fractions.
