1.Performance and use:
Ammonium benzoate, also known as ammonium benzoate, chemical formula NH4C7H5O2, molecular weight 139.16, white flaky crystals or powder, slightly benzoic acid odor. Relative density 1.260, sublimation at 160℃, decomposition at 198℃. Soluble in water, glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether. Gradually lose NH((3)) when exposed to air, can react with iron salt, acid, alkali, hydroxide and carbonate.
Preparation: Obtained by reacting benzoic acid with ammonia.
Uses: Used as analytical reagent, adhesive and antiseptic, also used in pharmaceutical industry.
