1.Performance and use:
Thioglycolic acid (TGA) is mainly used as a raw material for blanket finishing agents and cold ironing liquids. TGA has the reaction characteristics of both hydroxy acids and mercaptans, the most important of which is the reaction with disulphides. Especially, it reacts with cystine in hair under alkaline condition, cuts the (-S-S-) bond of cystine, and generates cysteine which is easy to curl. It is mainly used as a curling agent, depilatory agent, low-toxicity or non-toxicity stabiliser for polyvinyl chloride, initiator, accelerator and chain transfer agent for polymerisation reactions, and metal surface treatment agent. In addition, mercaptoacetic acid is a sensitive reagent for the determination of iron, molybdenum, aluminium, tin, etc.; it can also be used as a nucleating agent for polypropylene processing and shaping, as well as a modifier for coatings and fibres, and as a quick-treating agent for blankets. Uses is the production of thiomethyl proline (Captopril), biotin, sulfur zinc acid, sodium dithiobutanedioate and other pharmaceutical intermediates, but also the synthesis of cysteine, hormonal agents, industrial disinfectants and the synthesis of sulfuric acid is an important raw material. UsesMercaptoacetic acid is used as the intermediate of Cefivitril, but also widely used as hair curling agent, depilatory agent, PVC low-toxicity or non-toxicity stabiliser, metal surface treatment agent, and initiator of polymerisation reaction, accelerator and chain transfer agent. Sensitive reagent for iron, molybdenum, silver and tin. Its ammonium and sodium salts are used as cold ironing agent for curly hair, and calcium salt is used as depilatory agent.
