Pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is released from autoclave sterilization of spores of Thermoanaerobacter stearothermophilus spp; it induces the aggregation of chitosan-stabilized gold nanoparticles, which changes the colour of the solution from red to blue.
Needle-shaped crystals. Difficult to dissolve in ethanol.
Used as a competitive inhibitor of bovine liver glutamate dehydrogenase
Used in the preparation of dipicolinato lanthanum and ligand complexes of transition metals
