1. Performance and use
Lithium bromide is composed of two elements: alkali metal lithium (Li) and halogen group elements (Br). Its general properties are similar to table salt, and it is a stable substance that does not deteriorate, evaporate, decompose, and is easily soluble in water in the atmosphere. Its solubility in water at 20 ℃ is about three times that of table salt. At room temperature, it is a colorless granular crystal that is non-toxic, odorless, and has a salty and bitter taste. Easy to dissolve in water, ether, ethanol, soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, acetone, and ethylene glycol, slightly soluble in pyridine. Hot lithium bromide solution can dissolve fibers. Its aqueous solution has strong hygroscopicity, and at room temperature, the concentration of saturated lithium bromide aqueous solution reaches 60%. The higher the concentration and the lower the temperature, the stronger the hygroscopicity.
Used as a water vapor absorbent, air temperature regulator, absorption refrigerant, hydrogen chloride remover, sedative, and for photography, batteries, etc
