1. Performance and use
Triethyl citrate is an oily colorless liquid at room temperature and pressure, with a solubility of 6.5g/100cm3 in water at 25 ℃. It has a sweet and pleasant fruity wine with a plum like aroma. This compound is soluble in most organic solvents, but difficult to dissolve in oil. It has good compatibility with most cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate resin, and chlorinated rubber.
It is mainly used as a plasticizer for thermoplastics such as cellulose and vinyl, and also used in the coating industry. It can also be used as a berry type edible essence
