1.Performance and use:
Colourless transparent monoclinic prismatic crystals, relative density 1.52, easy to weather in the air, very easy to lose five molecules of water of crystallization and form heptahydrate (Na2HPO4.7H2O). Soluble in Chemicalbook water, insoluble in alcohol. Aqueous solution is slightly alkaline reaction (0.1-1N solution PH is about 9.0). Loses
water of crystallisation at 100°C and becomes anhydrous, decomposes into sodium pyrophosphate at 250°C.
Disodium hydrogen phosphate can be used as water softener, fabric weight gainer, fire retardant, and used in glaze, solder, medicine, pigment, food industry and other phosphate production. It is also used as emulsifier, quality improver, nutritional enhancer, fermentation aid, chelating agent, stabiliser. Used as boiler water softener, flame retardant for fabric, wood and paper, glazing agent and soldering agent. Used in the production of detergents, cleaning agents for printing plates and dyeing with Chemicalbook mordant. It is used as stabiliser for peroxide bleaching in printing and dyeing industry and as filler for rayon (to enhance the strength and elasticity of silk). It is the raw material for manufacturing sodium pyrophosphate and other phosphates, and is also the culture agent for monosodium glutamate, erythromycin, penicillin, streptomycin and sewage production chemical treatment products. It is also used in electroplating and leather blending. In the food industry as a quality improver, PH regulator, nutrient fortifier.
Used as industrial water quality treatment agent, printing and dyeing detergent, quality improvement agent, antibiotic culture agent, biochemical treatment agent and so on.
Used as flame retardant for fabrics, wood, paper and weight gainer for silk. It is the auxiliary agent for manufacturing reactive dyes. It is used instead of borax in welding and brazing.
Used as food quality improver
Used as analytical reagent, buffer, water softener and fire retardant in printing and dyeing industry, and also used for fabric weight increase, etc.
Used as analytical reagent and pH reference reagent.
